The Ruth B. Camp Scholarship Fund
Huntsville's first radiologist, Dr. E. E. Camp made a gift of stock to Huntsville Hospital in honor of his wife, Ruth, a former pediatric nurse. In 1989, the Foundation sold this highly appreciated asset and invested the principal to endow the Ruth B. Camp Scholarship Fund, to be used for nursing and paramedical scholarships. To ensure that the scholarship fund will meet future needs, Ms. Camp who passed away in 2008, made a provision in her will for more resources to be invested in the fund. "Endowment is the key word," she said. "With an endowment, you know that the funds will go on and on helping people." The 2011 application deadline has passed.
